Cosponsorship Information
Updated Spring 2011
The CWRU Film Society will release its schedule at least 30 days before the
beginning of the semester. Organizations that wish to cosponsor a film which
appears on the schedule on a Friday or Saturday night are only responsible for
covering projectionists' fees, which are 30 dollars a showing. The members of
this organization will in turn be allowed to make announcements prior to the
film, will receive assistance from the CWRU Film Society with publicity and
advertising relevant to the event, and will be entitled to staff concessions
discounts and free admission to the film. The cosponsoring organization may
cover the projectionists' fees in one of two ways: by guaranteeing a sufficient
number of paying customers to cover these costs (ten per showing) or down
payment. If an insufficient number of paying customers attend the event, the
cosponsoring organization will be obligated to pay the CWRU Film Society the
difference. Projectionists' fees must be paid in whole by the end of the
evening.
If an organization wishes to cosponsor a film that does not appear on the CWRU
Film Society's Friday/Saturday schedule, they will be required to pay one third
of the cost of the film rights, rounded up to the nearest fifty dollars, as
well as projectionists' fees. Down payment for the film rights must be received
by the CWRU Film Society one week prior to the showing. Projectionists' fees
may be covered as above: by guaranteeing paying customers or down payment.
Films that do not appear on CWRU Film Society's regular schedule cannot be
scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. As above, projectionists' fees
must be paid in whole by the end of the event.
If multiple organizations wish to cosponsor a single film, arrangements must be
made by the groups in question. The costs may be split however the groups wish;
the CWRU Film Society will require the same total cost to be paid (one third of
the rights plus thirty dollars projectionists' fees per showing for an
off-schedule movie, projectionists' fees only for a regularly scheduled movie)
as with a cosponsorship by a single group.
The CWRU Film Society requests as many members of the cosponsoring organization
be present as is possible at their cosponsored event. A single representative
of the cosponsoring organization, at minimum, must be present at the event
throughout its duration.
If an organization fails to pay the necessary fees for their cosponsorship the
CWRU Film Society may pursue action through the university, and the
organization may be ineligible for future cosponsorships. If at least a single
member of the cosponsoring organization fails to attend the event the
organization may be ineligible for future cosponsorships. The CWRU Film Society
reserves the right to refuse a cosponsorship for any reason.
